Digital transformation to Attend Anywhere

14/10/2020

With hospital ICU wards deployed to assist with ever increasing Covid-19 numbers, the rest of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital needed a new normal to manage large caseloads.

Enter Attend Anywhere.
Mike Wright, Innovation Business Partner at CW Innovation says:
Training the workforce to use the Attend Anywhere browser-based system, was made easier by the multitude of training videos available. Quick reference guides about lighting, quiet environments, and technical requirements were essential to staff. In time, they were able to train each other, helping the roll out immensely.

Among his many insights around the unique set of challenges Covid-19 presents (staff having to blend personal life and professional life, new anxieties appearing, and CEOs being much more mindful around understanding the environment that staff are working in), Mr. Hulme was asked:
What technology has been the most useful over the past few months?
Attend Anywhere has been the most useful and we got it up and running within 6 days to hold virtual consultations with patients. It was really important for us to keep our patients as safe as we could.

The life-saving benefits of Attend Anywhere

9/10/2020

The Royal Stoke University Hospital and the County Hospital in Staffordshire now have 30 clinics using Attend Anywhere with more than 2,000 patients taking part in virtual consultations.
Patients feel that virtual clinics save them time and lowers stress and Attend Anywhere is making sure that patient care continues from the safest environment possible - their own homes.
Cystic fibrosis clinical nurse specialist Laura Barlow:
When one of my patients logged on to Attend Anywhere recently, it became apparent that they needed to be admitted urgently. This was clear to me because I was able to see them. We were able to arrange for the patient to be reviewed by a consultant, brought into hospital and begin treatment and this may have played a role in saving the patient's life.

The value of shared experience

7/10/2020

Bedside manner in the age of Covid is covered in this reflective piece from fourth-year psychiatry student, Shaun Colley, who uses Attend Anywhere for seeing patients.

On video consultations from home:
One patient mentioned that this was a unique experience for them, and that lockdown had forced them to adapt to new interactions with healthcare services within their home. I was able to relate to this and found that this was something I shared with a lot of the people I spoke to. It made me realise the importance of shared experience when working with patients in clinical situations and how this can improve outcomes for both patient and doctor.
