COVID-19 changes the way we EMBRACE TECHNOLOGY

24/3/2021

Many things have changed in healthcare in response to Covid-19, including the way we embrace technology. The pandemic has forced us to harness the power of digital technology in a very short space of time. Video consultation platforms such as Attend Anywhere have played a vital role in allowing providers to deliver remote healthcare to patients.
When speaking about this digitisation, this London surgeon commented:
We now use online consultations to triage patients. I had never even heard of Attend Anywhere before the pandemic, but now clinicians up and down the country know it very well as the secure video call service for patients within the NHS.

FROM AUSTRALIA TO THE UK - ATTEND ANYWHERE'S 10 YEAR JOURNEY

19/3/2021

Starting out in Melbourne, the Attend Anywhere solution has now been adopted widely by many trusts across the UK. Then, when Covid-19 hit, the company was thrust onto the big stage, helping trusts to bolster their remote consultation capacity during the pandemic.
While this rapid scale up has not been without its challenges, Attend Anywhere’s founder Chris Ryan says he has been “proud” of Attend Anywhere’s contribution during Covid-19. When asked if he thinks video consultations are here to stay?

I am completely convinced it will continue. Now there is the option of having your cake and eating it – so being able to see your doctor via video but also being able to see them physically, if you need to. I think the jury has delivered its verdict in terms of the value of video as one part of a continuum of care delivery options.

10/3/2021

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, many healthcare organisations rapidly introduced remote consulting in an effort to avoid face-to-face contact and control the spread of infection.
This research project, funded by The Health Foundation, will look at how the COVID-19 crisis is influencing the rapid scale up and rollout of video consulting in NHS primary and secondary care and how this technology can be used to improve services and outcomes for all, including marginalised and disadvantaged patients.

VIDEO CONSULATIONS HELPING IN OUTPATIENT CARE

9/3/2021

An informative and timely study from the British Medical Journal, discusses a recent project aimed at developing an embedded video consultation service within the existing National Health Service (NHS) outpatient system, that was easy to use for both patients and NHS staff.
The findings show, with non-attendance rates high and an increase in demand for outpatient appointments, digital solutions such as the Attend Anywhere video consultation platform help ameliorate the challenges to both patients attending, and services delivering, outpatient care.

14/10/2020

With hospital ICU wards deployed to assist with ever increasing Covid-19 numbers, the rest of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital needed a new normal to manage large caseloads.

Enter Attend Anywhere.
Mike Wright, Innovation Business Partner at CW Innovation says:
Training the workforce to use the Attend Anywhere browser-based system, was made easier by the multitude of training videos available. Quick reference guides about lighting, quiet environments, and technical requirements were essential to staff. In time, they were able to train each other, helping the roll out immensely.

Among his many insights around the unique set of challenges Covid-19 presents (staff having to blend personal life and professional life, new anxieties appearing, and CEOs being much more mindful around understanding the environment that staff are working in), Mr. Hulme was asked:
What technology has been the most useful over the past few months?
Attend Anywhere has been the most useful and we got it up and running within 6 days to hold virtual consultations with patients. It was really important for us to keep our patients as safe as we could.
